This can easily be extended into a full day return walk from Peschiera del Garda where you can follow the cycle / pedestrian path along the Mincio river, which is the only emissary out of Lake Garda.
This is one of the best lake Garda walks. Following the river you will reach the the medieval town of Valeggio sul Mincio with its Castle and narrow streets. Valeggio is known for its local artisans who produce tortellini and sweets, which makes for a great excuse for a short refreshment break!
From Valeggio you can continue on a short walk to another ancient town – Borgo del Bhorgetto.
Borghetto is the best known hamlet of the Mincio valley and demands a little exploration. There is plenty of history interwoven into the narrow medieval streets which has all helped with an inclusion into the association of Italy’s Most Beautiful Towns.

The town which was born in the medieval era and has developed an almost symbiotic relationship with the Mincio river, which has acted as protector and provider over the years. Like many Italian villages it has retained its charm and changed very little over the years and represents a highlight on this great Lake Garda walk.

Key sites in the village include the bell tower, the water mills (once used for milling of wheat and cereals) and the fortresses of the Visconteo Bridge , an extraordinary fortified dam built in 1393 at the behest of Gian Galeazzo Visconti, Duke of Milan, in order to protect the eastern borders of his duchy.

You can take a https://www.valeggio.com/how-to-reach-us/?lang=enbus back to Peschiera or to Verona from Valeggio sul Mincio (or v.v.) if this is your starting point.

Difficulty – easy

There are plenty of refreshment options in both Borghetto and Valeggio sul Mincio so just pack some water and you will be good to go.
