There’s no better way to take in the beauty of Lake Garda’s hills and villages than on foot, and one of the most scenic routes is the walk from Crero to Pai. Imagine breathtaking views of the lake around every corner! If you’re up for an adventure, why not join our local expert, Giovanni, who knows this area like the back of his hand?
Your journey starts in the charming village of Crero, where you’ll find ancient stone houses and old mills that feel like a step back in time. Make sure to check out the San Siro Church, a beautiful little spot built in 1713. From there, the walk takes you up to Val Valzana, where things get a bit more thrilling. You’ll cross the Tibetan bridge—a 35-meter long, 42-meter-high suspension bridge that’ll definitely get your heart racing!
As you continue, you’ll descend through peaceful woods toward Pai di Sopra, a historic hill town dating back to the 10th century. Here, you can explore the town’s old chapel, now the Church of San Marco, with its impressive wooden Madonna and Child statue and ancient frescoes. Finally, you’ll arrive at the modern lakeside town of Pai di Sotto, home to the Romanesque Church of San Gregorio, built in the 12th century. The mix of nature, history, and culture makes this walk an unforgettable experience!
The walk that starts from Crero located at 230 meters, climbs up through a slightly challenging up-and-down stony path near the Tibetan Bridge, reaches pai di Sopra at an altitude of 140 meters and then descends to Pai di Sotto at an altitude of 70 meters.
