The Rainbow Cafe

There is nothing quite like finding somewhere special to eat out; tasty food, friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere. So I was pleasantly surprised to come across The Rainbow Café whilst in Cambridge a few weeks ago.

The Rainbow Café is a restaurant with a difference – it is off the main street and intimate, and it serves completely vegetarian dishes. It also caters for vegans and gluten-free diets to boot. Even the beer, wine, and cider are vegan! Everything is freshly made on the premises, with no artificial colourings, flavourings and preservatives, and dishes are made using local produce.

Boy, can you taste the difference. Our meal was delicious, with so much flavour. I must confess that up until visiting this place I was of the opinion that eating vegetarian all the time, and particularly vegan was a bit boring and samey. But I’ve been curious about vegan food for a while, and my Tagine L’Algerienne with sweet potato and aubergine…. I could quite happily eat that again and again! And my friends’ Vegan Artichoke Parcel look amazing too.

With a good range of yummy starters, mains, and desserts, with daily specials and tempting desserts, and lip-smackingly good drinks, an evening spent at The Rainbow Café is an evening well spent.

Unfortunately the restaurant closed down in 2018…
